The Child Feeding Guide

Do you: - Find mealtimes frustrating - Sometimes pressure your child to eat - Feel unsure about how to increase your child's fruit and vegetable intake - Use food as a reward or punishment for behaviour, or to soothe pain - Bribe your child to eat with rewards and treats - Does your child: - Refuse to try new foods - Only eat a small range of foods - Only eat a small amount of food at mealtimes - Refuse fruits and/or vegetables - Eat too many unhealthy snack foods If you can relate to any of the above, then we are here to offer help and guidance. We're researchers at Loughborough University - but we're also Mums ourselves so we understand the challenges! How we can help: The majority of children experience a stage of fussy eating at some point. This behaviour is totally normal and not something to be seriously concerned about. However, the way in which this initial, normal fussiness is managed can affect whether it continues as the child grows older. Our aim is to educate parents about the science behind the behaviour, and provide real strategies and tools that can be used to help tackle fussiness in a positive way. Our website and resources will help you to assess and monitor your own and your child's feeding behaviour, learn about common feeding problems, and access tips and tools that can be used to implement changes. The result will hopefully be healthy, happy mealtimes! We recommend you start by creating a profile on our website and completing the free Feeding Assessment Questionnaire. Don't forget we're here to help and you can also follow us Twitter and Like us on Facebook where we regularly answer your questions about child feeding.
